THE STOA COLLECTION

This is the working name of my private collection of antiquarian books. It mainly comprises first editions of scientific titles relating to subjects having been on the curriculum of HBS-B [Dutch secondary school, β-version] and of my subsequent education, finally comprising a propadeuse [=1st year exam] in medicine, a psychology bachelor with philosophy minor, a masters in business economics and a post-master degree of chartered accountant. This background resulted in a quite diverse list of advisors to the collection.

The collection presently [2015] comprises 1800 copies, all described on title level and was started with quite a wide scope of scientific interest. Presently only subjects of which a catalog is mentioned on this website are retained. Copies now out of scope are gradually offered for sale with ABEbooks.

Catalogs

Those descriptions are presented in catalogs by thematic subject as shown below.

Those catalogs are the raw material for a project to edit material from the descriptions into general sections, where appropriate. The website will be actualised accordingly.

Research notes

Catalogs are based on appropriate scholarly and bibliographical sources.

It happens however, that those sources do not fully explain the copies in the collection. Research notes documenting my own additional research are included on those occasions. Those notes also are the raw material for a more professional final paper, in the preparation of which cooperation with other scholars is welcomed.
