Original halfleather with marbled boards, Hübel & Denck label at verso of ffep. A very early (Nietzsche died in 1900) reprint, which Naumann at that time used to make at 1000 per Auflage. The second edition (1891) is an unchanged reprint. The third edition was edited by Peter Gast as part of the collected works. This copy is an almost identical reprint, with a two page introduction added only in this 4th edition. Renumbering of 3 double numbers, paragraph headings, two notes and an index (as in 3rd edition).

A rare variant, stating 1895 on title.

Owners inscription dated July 1894 on title, which is quite possible, as the Auflagenbuch states that the 4^th edition [part of which must have been dated on title as this copy] was ready on 11^th May 1894.
